(1867-1947) American composer who, along with lyricist Walter H.Ford penned some of the late 1800s biggest standards, including “I Love You the Same Old Way”, “My Boy Bill” and “Darling Sue”. His songs were played at every presidential inauguration between 1896-1944.

Letter reads in part, “Dear Madam/ My friend Gitz Rice, with whom I wrote the song “Follow The President”, has shown me a card from you…believe me, I greatly appreciate your kind remarks.” Signed nicely “John W. Bratton”. Usual folds, light surface creases, very good.
