This is a large postcard not filled in on the back. On the picture side is reproduction of a painting Helnwein did of Marlene Dietrich, entitled "Marlene":   It is a beautiful facial portrait done as a cinema closeup with spotlight shining down on her face. She is made up for a film. Her eyes are hooded and it is a very sexy portrait on dark background. Across the bottom in white pen on black background it is signed "G. Helnwein".
HELNWEIN, GOTTFRIED. (b. 1948 ) Austrian-Irish fine artist, photographer, installation and performance artist. He has worked as a painter, draftsman, photographer, muralist, sculptor, installation- and performance artist, using a wide variety of techniques and media.His early work consists mainly of hyperrealistic watercolors depicting wounded children, as well as performances - often with children - in public spaces. Helnwein is concerned primarily with psychological and sociological anxiety, historical issues and political topics. As a result of this, his work is often considered provocative and controversial.

LIPSCHITZ, JACQUES. (1891-1973) Cubist sculptor, born in Lithuania, later came to the United States and became one of 250 sculptors who exhibited in the 3rd Sculpture International held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the summer of 1949. He has been identified in the LIFE Magazine photograph showing 70 of them. In 1954 a Lipchitz retrospective traveled from The Museum of Modern Art in New York to the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and The Cleveland Museum of Art. In 1959, his series of small bronzes "To the Limit of the Possible" was shown at Fine Arts Associates in New York.

Under the pseudonym Dale Messick, she was the creator of Brenda Starr, which at its peak during the 1950s ran in 250 newspapers.In 1995, Brenda Starr was one of 20 comic strips honored by a series of United States postage stamps; Messick was the only living creator. She received the National Cartoonists Society’s Story Comic Book Award for 1975 and their Milton Caniff Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997 for her work on Brenda Starr.

This is a posed portrait of Gropper in three-quarter view, shown with actress Joan Coanfield, who is seated. Between them they are holding a large scarf with a print on it of a circus rider on a horse, obviously a Gropper original design on fabric. On the lower right corner of the scarf Gropper has signed his name in large unusual lettering in blue ink on light background. Both of them are smiling affably at each other. A really nice photograph of the artist.

Signed Printed Christmas Card from Imaginary Promenades in Italy, was sent to Arlond Weissberger with all good wishes for a Marry Christmas and New Year. Signed, “Arnold from E.B.” L. Arnold Weissberger (1907-1981) American theatrical lawyer who represented many prominent artists and theatrical personalities. He was Eugene Berman's friend and attorney.
BERMAN, EUGENE. (1899-1972) Russian born American artist, theatre and opera designer, and collector. Between 1922 and 1957 he lived and worked in the United States. In 1957 he moved to Rome where he resided until his death in 1972. As a designer he is primarily known for his designs for American Ballet Theatre's Romeo and Juliet and Giselle, and for the Metropolitan Opera's Don Giovanni, La Forza del Destino, Othello, Rigoletto, and The Barber of Seville.

MILLES, CARL. (1875-1955) Swedish sculptor best known for his fountains.Carl Milles sculpted the Poseidon statue in Gothenburg, the Gustaf Vasa statue at the Nordiska museet, the Orfeus group outside the Stockholm Concert Hall and the Folke Filbyter sculpture in Linköping. The letter was featured on a stamp issued in 1975, commemorating the fact that he would have turned a hundred years old that year.
