YEAGER, CHUCK (b 1923) General in the United States Air Force and noted test pilot. He is widely considered to be the first pilot to travel faster than sound (1947). Originally retiring as a brigadier general, Yeager was promoted to major general on the Air Force's retired list 20 years later for his military achievements.

This is a card celebrating May Day in the Soviet Union.  The front of the card has a graphic and in Russian, greetings for May 1.  It is signed by Gagarin, who was the first man in space, on Vostok I (April 12, 1961), Gherman Titov, on Vostok 2 (Aug. 6,7, 1961), B. Yegorov on Voshod I (Oct. 12, 1964), and V.B. Kovsky on Vostock 5 (June 14-19, 1963), who was the husband of Valentina Tereskova.  On verso there is inscribed a message in Russian.
