(1901-73) American painter, etcher, lithographer, sculptor, illustrator and writer. He was particularly active during the Depression and World War II era.

Evergood writes, "Dear Sidney: Thank you for your very good letter suggesting having lunch soon. I am looking forward to seeing you under quiet circumstances and having a talk about things mutually constructive. At the moment I am obliged to work very hard. (I have certain deadlines to meet on one or two small projects) and therefore I think it will be impossible to see you next week but I think I may have to be in town between the 15th and 17th of February and when I know definitely I shall telephone you and arrange a date & time. You'll be hearing from me. With best wishes & looking forward to our meeting." it is signed in full, "Sincerely, Philip Evergood"
