This handsome Falk cabinet portrait of Henry Rider Haggard known as H. Rider Haggard is boldly signed in fountain pen and dated, "Sincerely yours H. Rider Haggard 1891." He draws an attractive paraph under both his name and the date. By the time he signed our photograph, Haggard had established himself as the popular adventure writer and creator of Allan Quartermain. The next year, 1892, his novel "Nada the Lily" would be published.
The Falk name and address are printed in orange with the same color used in the fine border line. The overall tone of the photograph is a more inviting sepia than shown in the accompanying image. Condition: Adhesion marks to the reverse, slight chip to lower right corner, otherwise fine.
