ANTOINE BOURDELLE

Appealing Drawing Signed, water color sketch, with annotation illustrated with a triangle on verso, on a heavy stock paper measuring 4 x 6 inches. .

Known primarily as a sculptor, Bourdelle drew throughout his life. This sketch may have been a preliminary drawing for a larger work or sculpture or simply drawn for its own. It is signed in the lower right corner, "Bourdelle." Docketing in French on version is likely in his hand, “Head fragment or ensemble perhaps a water color". Most unusual is his printed signature on an artwork.
