PABLO PICASSO

(1881-1973). Spanish painter and sculptor. One of the most prolific and recognized figures in twentieth-century art, best known for co-founding the Cubist movement and for the wide variety of styles embodied in his work.

Fine and unusual pencil sketch on paper mounted to a brown paper card, inscribed in Spanish, signed and dated, Dec. 12, 1958.

"For my friend...Picasso, 12.5.58. " The drawing measures 4.75 x 6 inches on brown card stock of 6.75 x 9 inches and floats on a dark gray mat overlaid with a white mat, framed in black satin finished wood, matted and framed in museum quality materials, framed in 5/8/inch black satin wood. Frame measures 12 ¼ x 13 3/4. The drawing is similar to the one in "Scrawl: An A-Z of Famous Doodles," p. 167.
