FUCHS, VIVIAN. Original Art SIGNED. Autograph Letter SIGNED

(1908-99) British geologist and Antarctic explorer.

FUCHS, VIVIAN. Original Art SIGNED. Autograph Letter SIGNED

Fuchs sketches a bird floating on a piece of ice and explaines the drawing in Autgraph Letter Signed. The bird likely references birds he saw on his Antarctic expedition. The drawing is rendered in black ink on verso of a 3 x 6 inch index card. He explains the sketch in the letter to Mrs. Polk written on his personalized printed stationery. He "unhappily" didn't have the time to draw five birds as she apparently requested and suggests she make four copies of this drawing. Signed in full. , Cambridge, 8vo, England, July 3, 1995. Fuchs is best remembered for leading the British Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition along with Edmund Hillary. Both co-authored, "The Crossing of Antarctica" (1958).
